Handshake student product updates—19th September 2025
In-app notifications from Brands you follow [Launched: 11th September, 2025]
Job seekers will receive an in-app notification when a brand that they currently follow posts on the feed. This allows job seekers to stay up-to-date with brands that they follow on Handshake whenever they have a new post.
Mentions within Handshake feed [Launched: 9th September, 2025]
Job seekers are now able to mention and tag other student and employer users. Job seekers will be able to mention other users in a new Handshake feed post. If a job seeker is replying within the comments, the person that they are replying to will be automatically mentioned. If a job seeker is mentioned, they will receive a notification. Mentions allow interactions and conversations on the Handshake feed to be more personal and relevant to each individual job seeker. Mentions is currently only available for web and iOS job seekers.
New onboarding flow [Launched: September, 2025]
We’ve updated the onboarding process for new users to make it more seamless for job seekers by focusing on collecting the information that will enhance a student’s Handshake experience from the start. Students will be asked to share information such as jobs that sound interesting to them, desired job locations, and notification preferences and are also encouraged to start building their professional identity and network.
New feed experience [Launched: 27th August, 2025]
[UK only] The new feed provides students with a familiar and intuitive way to discover careers content from trusted sources. Students can now see posts from their careers services, peers and employers approved by their institution.
With the new experience students can filter the feed helping to refine their feed by filtering the posts by employers or posts from their institution.
Post composer [Launched: 27th August, 2025]
[UK only] Students can now create and share content directly to the feed from the post composer, empowering them to contribute their own experiences, insights and ideas within the feed.
Comments [Launched: 27th August, 2025]
[UK only] Students now have the ability to comment on posts and receive replies, creating more space for dialogue and deeper engagement with content shared by peers, careers services, and employers.
Collections in the feed [Launched: 27th August, 2025]
[UK only] Jobs from collections that students follow appear directly in the feed, helping them find opportunities that are relevant and that matter to them.
Brand pages accessible from Events & Fairs [Launched: 22nd August, 2025]
Job seekers can easily access an employer's brand page across all event & fair types. By clicking on an employer’s logo or brand name, job seekers will be able to navigate to their brand page for more information about their company.
